- Become informed. Read our action alert and backgrounder for an overview, our brief for more analysis, and read the discussion paper released on May 7th.
- Use our One-Minute Messaging tool to send an email to your MP and members of the federal cabinet expressing your support for comprehensive and independent assessment of nuclear projects and your opposition to handing assessments over to the nuclear regulator.
- Make a phone call. Call your member of parliament and leave a message expressing your concern. Leave your email or phone number and ask that they confirm receipt of your message. Ask for a response. You can also leave a message with the Prime Minister, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources (if you call outside office hours you can leave a message).
- Write a letter to your Member of Parliament. The one-minute-message tool is handy and let’s us get things done in a hurry, but the next step is to send your own individualized letter to your MP. Great idea to send a copy to the Prime Minister, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
- Share your concern and opposition. Let others know that you are concerned and share your views and information. Write a Letter to the Editor of your local or regional or national newspaper. Call CBC Talkback or your local radio station to comment on a story or to connect the issue of nuclear waste with other regional news stories (train derailment, highway closures, other nuclear related stories).
- Hold or join public events and solidarity actions. Watch our Facebook page or sign up to our e-news for updates, and plan solidarity actions (e.g. walks, rallies) in your community.
